ShopMy vs. LTK: a guide for fashion creators.

A practical comparison for fashion creators: joining, linking, commissions, and the test to run before moving your outfits. With an earnings calculator for your own numbers.

Start with the outfit your audience wants to shop, then choose the tools that make it easy.

ShopMy and LTK both help creators earn from product recommendations. For a fashion creator, the useful comparison is how each platform handles your actual outfits, retailers, audience, and working week.

This guide compares public product documentation checked on September 8, 2026. It is written by Sidefold, which makes shoppable publishing software. The recommendations are our assessment of those documented workflows; we have not run a controlled earnings test or tested either creator dashboard for this article.

01

ShopMy or LTK: which should a fashion creator choose?

Consider ShopMy first if curated recommendations and direct brand conversations are central to your work. Consider LTK first if you want to build a regular publishing presence within its shopping community. Both offer affiliate linking and brand opportunities. These are starting points for a trial, rather than an earnings ranking. See the documented features from ShopMy and LTK.

For an outfit creator, start with a concrete question: “Can my follower find the exact trousers, understand the fit, and reach the right retailer?” Then ask whether you can maintain that experience every week. Your best platform is the one that supports those tasks and produces useful results for your audience.

A catalogue count cannot tell you whether the five pieces in your next outfit are commissionable in your audience’s country. Check the exact destinations, including product-category exclusions, before letting network size decide.

03

Can you join with a small following?

Both platforms review creator applications. ShopMy’s guide describes a typical minimum of 1,000 followers, with applications assessed individually. It also looks for product-sharing activity and an engaged audience. That number is a guideline, not a promise of acceptance. Read ShopMy’s application guidance.

LTK’s general creator page asks for consistent original content and an engaged, growing audience. Its UK FAQ specifies 5,000 followers for applicants outside the US and Canada. Check your regional application page instead of treating a threshold from another market as universal. LTK creator criteria · LTK regional FAQ.

While preparing an application, make several complete outfit posts: clear photographs, specific product names, useful fit notes, and evidence that you answer shopping questions. That work remains useful whichever platform accepts you.

04

Which pays more: ShopMy or LTK?

The higher-paying platform for you depends on the commissionable products people buy and the orders that are attributed and approved. A headline commission range cannot establish the winner for your account.

ShopMy documents an 82/18 revenue split in one compensation model, with its share already reflected in the displayed creator rate. It also describes a brand-paid model where nothing is deducted from that shown rate. Do not subtract 18% again from a displayed ShopMy rate. ShopMy’s revenue-share explanation.

LTK’s UK guide says retailers set their commission rates and that payment timing takes the brand’s return period into account. Use your account’s current product-level rates and reporting rather than a general earnings claim. LTK’s commission and payment guidance.

A hypothetical comparison

At 1,000 product-link clicks and a $100 commissionable basket, a 12% rate with 15 approved orders produces $180. An 8% rate with 25 approved orders produces $200. These invented inputs illustrate why the larger percentage can still earn less.

For your own review, divide approved commission by product-link clicks from the same reporting period. Keep pending orders separate until they settle. Also record your time: a small increase in earnings may not justify several extra hours of duplicate publishing.

05

Compare earnings using your own numbers

This calculator holds traffic and average order value equal so you can isolate the effect of commission rates and approved orders. Replace the example with your own assumptions. It does not predict either platform’s performance or additional discovery traffic.

Illustrative inputs, not platform averages. Enter the same period and currency for both platforms. Amounts below are shown in USD. Rates must be between 0 and 100%.

The estimates are equal with these inputs.

Formula: product-link clicks × approved-order rate × average commissionable order value × displayed commission rate. “Approved orders” means attributed purchases that remain eligible after returns and other adjustments. The estimate excludes paid campaigns, taxes, and currency-conversion costs.

06

Test the decision with one complete outfit

Use a five-piece look to evaluate the whole journey before moving your archive. A jacket, top, trousers, shoes, and bag expose more practical differences than comparing platform homepages.

  1. Check all five destinations.Record whether each exact product is available, commissionable, and suitable for your audience’s region. Label substitutes clearly.
  2. Time the publishing work.Include making links, adding images, tagging products, and writing sizing notes. Count future maintenance as part of the job.
  3. Open the page as a follower.Start in your social profile’s mobile browser. Find the trousers, read the size note, and open the correct colour at the retailer.
  4. Record results separately.Track product-link clicks, approved orders, commission, and minutes spent for each platform. Separate traffic you send from any platform discovery traffic where reporting allows.
  5. Repeat before committing.Try several comparable looks over a month, then revisit earnings after orders settle. Different dates, products, and audiences make this a practical trial, not a controlled experiment.

If using multiple platforms, check your creator and campaign agreements first. Keep the link provider recorded beside each item so later edits do not mix reporting sources. For the page itself, use our shop-the-look publishing guide.

Where does Sidefold fit?

Sidefold gives your shoppable photos a publishing home. You add images, place product markers, write item notes, and attach the retailer or affiliate URLs you already have. Sidefold preserves those destinations and records consented product-link clicks.

Your affiliate provider still handles approval, purchase attribution, commission rates, and payouts. Keeping a URL intact does not guarantee commission: use destinations your provider permits on that surface and verify the full journey.

This becomes useful when you want outfit posts beside your own paid wardrobe guide, photo story, or download in a creator shop. If an affiliate platform’s storefront already does everything you need, an additional publishing tool may add little. If you want that broader body of work together, explore Sidefold shoppable posts and the fashion creator workflow.

ShopMy vs. LTK questions

Is ShopMy or LTK better for a small fashion creator?

Start with eligibility, the retailers you actually recommend, and where your audience shops. ShopMy describes a typical 1,000-follower threshold with case-by-case review. LTK requirements differ by market. Neither approval nor a follower count establishes which platform will earn more for you.

Does ShopMy always pay more than LTK?

There is no universal winner established by this comparison. Compare your displayed rates for the same products, then measure approved commission per product-link click over comparable periods. A higher rate can still produce lower earnings if fewer orders are attributed and approved.

Can I share LTK links outside the LTK app?

Yes. LTK’s linking page explicitly supports sharing product links wherever your audience is. Its shopping app is an additional destination for discovery, rather than the only place you can share links.

Can I use both ShopMy and LTK?

Evaluate both if you are eligible, but check your current creator agreements and any campaign-specific exclusivity before publishing across platforms. Keep separate records of which provider generated each URL and which dashboard reports the resulting commission.

Is Sidefold an alternative to ShopMy or LTK?

Sidefold is an option for publishing shoppable photos and selling your own digital work. It preserves the product URLs you add and measures consented link clicks. Affiliate approval, purchase attribution, and commission payouts stay with your affiliate provider; Sidefold does not replace those services.
